Various causes have been assigned for this disappointment, but it is generally believed that the weather conditions were too unfavorable. It was exceed- ingly warm and balmy. Advertising was not nearly so extensive this year as last, and this is another cause given for the decrease in the demand. The foot- ball game Thanksgiving day helped matters somewhat and the call for cor- sages was good. Wedding work was lively and there was a small demand for funeral designs. Prices held up well, however, chrysanthemums bring- ing $3, $4, $5 and $6 per dozen. Pom- pons, and the singles retailed at $ and $2 per dozen. Many local grow- ers held back their chrysanthemum crop, the varieties being Dolly Dimple, Wil- liam Turner, Chadwick, Eaton, Bonnaf- fon, Golden Wedding and Wells' Late Pink.
