Holter ECG monitor. Torso of a male patient wearing electrodes attached to his chest, connected to a Holter monitor at his waist. A Holter monitor is a portable electrocardiograph (ECG) device. It can measure and record the electrical activity of a patient's heart over 24 hours. This is particularly useful in obtaining a record of cardiac arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm) that would not be discovered by means of a normal ECG recording of only a few minutes.
