This form shows some resemblance to Dinocyon, but M2 is smaller and P4 narrower. It differs from Aelurodon wheelerianus in the larger size, less prominent protostyle and deuterocone of P4; larger inner lobe of M1; and larger M2. From A. saevus it differs in the much smaller deuterocone of P4; longer and heavier protoeone lobe of M1; and larger M2. Cams? ursinus described by Cope,38 from a lower jaw obtained from the Santa Fe marl is a canid with large M2 and M3. The upper 38 Cope, E. D., IT. S. Geol. Surv.
