The American annual of photography . STONEWARE. J. A. PAPER PRINTS FROM AUTOCHROMES By J. V. ALTENEDER. HE regret is frequently expressed that paper printsare not possible from aiitochromes, and it is notgenerally known that this can be done. Havingbeen an autochrome enthusiast ever since theplate has been available, I have myself felt thedesire to translate its beauties to paper, if not in color, at leastin monochrome. After considerable experiment I found that this can easilybe done, and now that the Cramer Dry Plate Co., in conjunc-tiufs with Mr. R. P. Wallace have placed the Spectrum plateand their color filters on the market, there appears to be nogood reason why this cannot also be done in color. Themethod which has given me the best results is to pjace theautochrome against a window and blocking out the extraneouslight by a suitable frame, and then copying it in the camera,using- a backed panchromatic plate and the Lumiere compen-sating screen in front of the lens. This method permits enlarging to considerable extent with-out show
