True, these are fantastic thoughts,which came to me after my work was finished; only I tell vou thisabout the Finale, that I thought it as the good-bye of Spring. (It may here be noted that the symphony was fully sketched in fourdays, and that Schumann now speaks of composing the w^ork in Febru-ary, 1841, and now of writing it toward the end of that year.)
