Thorough electrolysis of the base of acancerous or sarcomatous growth can be accomplished if suffi-cient attention be given to the operation, and the process seemsto produce some trophic modification of the tissues which ren-ders a return of the growths less liable to occur than after theuse of the knife. This subject deserves a more careful studythan has heretofore been given it by surgeons or electro-thera-peutists. When large growths are operated upon it is frequently ad-visable to use a needle-electrode connected with each pole of thebattery and to plunge both needles into the tumor. In this waythe resistance to the current is very much diminished and theresult is more rapidly obtained. Care must be taken, however,to limit the electrolytic action to the pathological tissue, unless CO CO. CO
