Faslane is a royal navy Trident Nuclear armed submarine base situated on the gare loch and the RN Armanments Depot Coulport on Loch Long are the primary components of the HM Naval base Clyde The base serves as home base to the United kingdoms fleet of Trident nuclear powered and armed submarines as well as conventionally armed nuclear powered submarines supported by the Fleet protection Group Royal Marines Given the presence of these nuclear capable missiles Faslane has attracted many demonstrations against neclear weapons Faslane also has a Peace camp which was formed in 1982 and it is believed to be the longest running peace camp in the UK
