Clearwater West (bottom right) and Clearwater East (top left), impact craters located in Quebec, Canada. Approximately 290 million years ago, two large asteroids collided with Earth, creating these massive craters, which are now lakes and can still be seen from space. Both of these craters are complex in nature and feature distinct central peaks. These peaks were formed due to the gravitational collapse of the crater walls and the subsequent rebound of the compressed crater floor.
