Early in 1941 she became a physical training instructor and was employed at a depot teaching recruits physical training, and continued in this work until she went overseas. She will be employed as a instructor in the Middle East. Joan Baker was always interested in amateur theatricals and while at a depot she produced a revue which subsequently visited five towns in the neighbourhood.
