The locomotive was described in the Februarv 1924 issue weight tons, 150 tons more than theordinary milk train, was made up, and left Sayre 1 hr. 15min. late. The locomotive took the train over the moun-tain, and arrived at Lehighton, 150 miles. 12 min. , tons, in 38 milk cars and 2cabooses, were taken out of Lehighton 7 min. late, andarrived at Sayre 5 min. late in spite of 15 min. delay onthe road. During this trip an average of 55 wasmaintained for 38 miles. One of the outstanding features. the Lenigh Valley —Built by the Ar notive Company of .\.\o Lo(o-MOTivE , and testsof its performance on the Lehigh Valley Railroad appearedin the .^pril, 1924, issue. The locomotive is of the 4-8-2 type and in workingorder weighs lb., the weight on the driving wheelsbeing lb. Driving wheel base 41 ft. 2 in. Thecylinders are 25x28 in.; boiler pressure 200 lb.; maximumtractive effort lb.: and factor of adhesion wheel diameter is 69 in. It was placed in service on the Buffalo Division betweenTiffts Farm and , abfjut 94 miles. The rulinggrade is per cent and a]>proximately 28 miles heaviest locomotive on the Lehigh Vallev is rated tons r»n the division, this being a Santa Fe type withmaximum tractive p(jwer of lb.
