Workers dry colorful cloths in neat rows across a field. The fabrics are locally called "Saree" - a traditional clothing garment for women.
the long cotton cloths are set out to dry under the hot sun, having been dyed with bright colours. About 4000 pieces of cloth are laid to dry here everyday. The process usually takes three hours, with each set of 200 pieces at a time to dry in temperatures that can reach over 36 degrees celsius. Beautifully embellished colorful long cloths are created using the Indonesian technique called "Batik". The colorful cloths which sell for less than 5 £ are arranged on patches of grass to dry out completely as it is cheaper and more sustainable to dry them out in sunlight. Finally, they are sent to markets for sale both at home and abroad
