Scribbly gum bug markings on a tree. Markings made by the larva of a scribbly gum moth (Ogmograptis scribula) as it bored through the wood of a scribbly gum tree (Eucalyptus haemastoma). Scribbly gum bugs mine the barks of various smooth-barked Eucalyptus species, causing so-called scribbles. Photographed in New South Wales, Australia.
