Hitchcock, Charles Edmund Bush. ADMIRAL GEORGE ALBERT CONVERSE, U. S. N., B. S. George A. Converse, son of Dr. Shubael and Louvia Elizabeth (Morrill)Converse, was born in Norwich, At., May 13,1844, and died in Washington,D. C, March 29, 1909. He prepared for college in the schools of his town andentered the University in 1859, remaining until 1861, when he received an ap-pointment to the United States Naval Academy; was one of the founders of theReveille; member of the 0 X Fraternity; received from the University in 1865the degree of B. S. as for 1863. He was appointed midshipman, United States Naval Academy, September29, 1861, and graduated in 1865.
