NO little difficulty has been experienced by electricrailway builders in securing the numerous smalldevices needed in first class construction, of a suffi-ciently perfect model to eliminate aggravating larger matters have received the careful attention ofexpert designers, while too often, the little details have ina manner shifted for themselves, not infrequently findinga common level with the scrap pile, after brief use. Time. and experience is changing this, however, and such thingsas pole ratchets, strain insulators and trolley hangers aregetting their share of attention. A recent improvement in the latter class is shown inthe illustration of Woods Trolley Wire Clamp. It is ofthe simplest possible construction and seems to have beenplanned with the purpose of making it a universal clamp;it will hold any size of trolle} wire, and can be used withan^r of the usual insulating bells. It offers no projectionsto cut and wear the trolley wheel, no flashing or sparkingwhatever takes place as the wheel passes the clamp.
