Magnesium ribbon in ethanoic acid. Ethanoic acid will attack most metals. However, it is not corrosive to stainless steel. It is classified as a weak acid even, as here, in its concentrated form. It reacts quite strongly with the magnesium ribbon and produces hydrogen gas.
