Josiah Moore, son of Joseph and Lydia Moore, and grandson ofDavid Moore, of Wilksbarre, Pa., was born at Rocky Fort, Lick-ing county, Ohio, December 10, 1810, and was about eight yearsold when his mother, Lydia, died and he was sent to live with hissister, Mrs. Patterson, in Bellefontaine. He was converted underthe preaching of Rev. Mr. Stevenson. In 1834 he was married toElizabeth Stevenson, daughter of his pastor. He joined thischurch September 30, 1831, and was elected elder November 26, 1857. Josiah Moore moved to McLean county, Illinois, in 1859;afterwards his family lived at Chenoa, Towanda, Watseka andGibson City. In nearly all these places Mr. Moore was a rul-ing elder. Mr. Moore died May 21, 1898, aged 87. He was a consistent,faithful christian man, who for a number of years desired to de- €2 PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH JOSIAH MOORE. JOHX ANDERSON McILVAlNE. John Anderson Mcll-vaine, son of William Mc-Ilvaine, was born in LittleWashington, Pennsylvania,in 1831. He was of Scotchparentage, and was raisedin the beliefs of the Presby-terian church. The familymoved to Logan county,Ohio, north of Huntsville,while he .was yet a his early manhoodhe united with the churchat Huntsville, and June 10,1859, transferred his mem-bership to conducted a store in part and be with Moore died in GibsonCity in 18S3. An indica-tion of the character of thisman was his request thatthe worship of God mightnot be interfered with byhaving his funeral on theSabbath. Of the children bornto these Godly parentsfour are living: — JosephWiley, of Fitsgerald, Geor-gia; John S., of GibsonCity, Illinois; Mrs. SarahHuber, of Bellefontaine,Ohio, and Mrs. Sallie , an adopteddaughter, in Fairbury,Illinois.
