After an exciting contest was nominated on the fifth ballot, andupon immediately resigning his office as StateSenator, entered into the State campaign, andwas elected by a majority of 25,287, the largestgiven any candidate on the ticket at that elec-tion. In January, 1S89, he assumed the dutiesof Secretary of State, and was an efficient andpopular public servant. In 1892 he was re-nominateo with but slight opposition, receiving1,081 nut of 1,232 votes in the convention onthe first ballot. The Democrats carrying the. The marriage of Mr. Pearson and Jennie was solemnized in Springfield in 1894,Mrs. Pearson being a daughter of the late C. Robinson, at one time a prominentDemocratic politician and member of Congresstrom Illinois. Mrs. Pearsons death occurredthe September after her marriage, and in 1901Mr. Pearson was united in marriage to Mary , of Macomb. Mr. Pearson is one ofthe stock-holders and directors of the MacombPottery Company and the Macomb ElectricLight & Gas Company, and a stocli-holder inthe Union National Bank of Macomb.
