Nanosatellites

Three nanosatellites, known as Cubesats, are deployed from a Small Satellite Orbital Deployer attached to the Kibo laboratory's robotic arm on November 19, 2013, a demonstration of small satellite deployment from the International Space Station. Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Koichi Wakata, Expedition 38 flight engineer, monitored the deployment while operating the robotic arm from inside Kibo. The Cubesats (ArduSat-1, ArduSat-X, and PicoDragon) were delivered to the ISS aboard Japan's fourth H-II Transfer Vehicle, Kounotori-4, in August of 2013.
