Wooden stocks with cravers curse carved in its base near Discovery Pier in Campbell River, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. These stocks were made as part of Campbell River Shoreline Arts "Transformations on the Shore" Wood Carving Competition in 2004. The Society is the founding organization for Campbell River's annual Chainsaw Carving Competition when works of art are made from transform discarded log tailings. Stocks were used in medieval times for torture, public humiliation, and punishment. The stocks partially immobilized its victims and they were often exposed in a public place to the scorn of those who passed by.
