Orchid flowers (Pholidota cantonensis, also known as Pholidota uraiensis). Several flowers are branching off the central stem. Each one has a yellow petal. This is the lip, a specialised petal that attracts pollinators to the flowers. This orchid is found in southern China and Taiwan. It can grow on both trees (epiphytic) or on rocks (lithophytic). There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
