Pesticide pollution monitoring. Pesticide residues on an agricultural worker fluorescing during exposure to ultraviolet light. Areas contaminated by the pesticide, in this case permethrin, show up as white patches. The pesti- cide was mixed with a fluorescent dye before the worker used it. This examination allows an evalua- tion of the effectiveness of any protective cloth- ing that the worker was using. This technique can be used to evaluate contamination of workers using any kind of liquid chemical.
