The supply of Wards is large; only a few specials bring anything like a price. The lower grades have little demand even at cheap prices in thousand lots. Carnations are beginning to come in heavily. Dahlias are in heavy supply. There seems to be no let-up on gladioli and tuberose stalks. Asters are not so abundant as they were. These conditions, with the expected large consignments of chrys- anthemums, will cause more worry for both the wholesalers and growers, unless conditions improve among the retailers. A few violets are coming in, but they are pale and short-stemmed. Easter lilies and valley hold their own. The supply of greens is equal to the demand. Various Notes. The officers of the St. Louis Florists' Club held a meeting September 18 at the home of Vice-president W. S. Wells, 4158 Flad avenue. The object of this meeting was to plan interesting meet- ings for the members during the coming season. A spring flower show, an enter- tainment, a dance and essays were talked over. Plans for increasing the membership to 150 were made. After the meeting a luncheon was served by Mrs. Wells, at which more good things for the club were talked over. A pleasant evening was spent, which will result in much benefit to the club. Tho St. Louis Seed Co. has filed suit against the Boatman's bank for $70,000 damages, alleged to have been sustained when the wall of the bank building fell over on the seed company's store, at Washington avenue, a few months ago, as a result of the Missouri Athletic Club fire, which caused great damage to their fixtures and stock.
