It was a most trying experience for a first-yearmissionary to be put in charge of a boarding school in a land of strangetongue and foreign customs; but Miss Warne had acquitted herselfmost nobly, and I found everything in much better condition than Ihad dared to expect. The change of directors was accomplished with-out friction, and the past three months have been filled with the routineof school life. During this time we were favored by a short visit fromBishop Lambuth, who made a careful investigation into the conditionand finances of the school, pronouncing them satisfactory in every have had our usual average attendance during this time. The. 358 WOMAN^S MISSIONARY COUNCIL. scholastic record has been rather above the average; the home life hasbeen pleasant; our teachers have been faithful; our finances have beenIn a fairly satisfactory state; our friends have been true to us; ourenemies, if such we have, quiescent; so that we thank God for his good-ness, and take courage to go on. During the year several Bible women have been at work; but forlack of opportunity, due to heavy school work, I have done but littlepersonally since my return. Owing to various circumstances, noneof these helpers are at work just now, and our regret is the deeper,as there is great necessity and opportunity for their work. But wehope to fill their places at once, and, in addition, to organize these andsome others into a womans Bible class meeting during the week. Looking toward the future, we see much to be done.
