FlŒm is a small village set in the spectacular surroundings of Aurlandsfjorden - a branch of Sognefjorden: this is the largest and best known fjord in Norway and the second longest in the world. Here we see a replica of a small Viking boat displayed in Sognefjord; very appropriate, as 1100 years ago, these would have been launched for terrifying raids (and voyages of exploration) to places as diverse as England, Ireland, France, the Mediterranean, Byzantium, Greenland, Russia and Vinland. A busy bunch, the Vikings!
