Pvt. Liles of the Signal Corps took this photograph on October 23, 1918. It shows a secretary named Butterfield with a volunteer detail of three cooks from Co. E, 104th Regiment Infantry, 26th Division. They are loaded with cigarettes, chewing gum, and tobacco to distribute to the soldiers of the 104th Regiment Infantry, who were pursuing the retreating enemy in Bois des Eparges, France. The photograph was approved by the American Expeditionary Forces' censor, but the exact date of approval is unknown.
