Church of San Giovanni degli Eremiti, Palermo, Sicily, Italy, 1927. Artist: Eugen Poppel.

Church of San Giovanni degli Eremiti (St John of the Hermits), Palermo, Sicily, Italy, 1927. The church was founded in the 6th century but became a mosque after the Arab conquest of Sicily. The Islamic influence is notable in the architecture of the building, which became a Christian church again after the Normans conquered the island in the 12th century.
