The Universities' Boat-Race, the Cambridge Crew: 5. L. G. Pike, Caius, 1876. Rower in the annual rowing race between the Cambridge University Boat Club and the Oxford University Boat Club, rowed between open-weight eights on the River Thames in London. The tradition began in 1829 with all-male crews of students. The first women's race was held in 1927. From "Illustrated London News", 1876.
