View across the Mottlawa river to the medieval city gate of Gdansk called "Crane Gate" (Krantor) - Poland, Europe.

Before world war two the polish Gdansk belonged to germany and was called Danzig. Since 1361 Danzig was a free hansetown. The huge Crane Gate (port crane with building overhanging) has one of the oldest and biggest conserved medieval cranes which shows Danzigs early importance as a trading town.
