SASEBO, Japan (May 10, 2017) Chief Gunner’s Mate Nick Stemper, from Milwaukie, Wis., assigned to Afloat Training Group (ATG) Western Pacific, instructs members of the Ship’s Self Defense Force (SSDF) on antiterrorism force protection aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6). Bonhomme Richard, forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan, is serving forward to provide a rapid-response capability in the event of a regional contingency or natural disaster.
