He purchasedin 1859 one-half interest in the Brevoort House, NewYork, having a successful business until his health failed,when he sold out in 1863, and went abroad, visiting GreatBritain, the Continent, and the East, spending the winterin Egypt, and the spring in the Holy Land, and returninghome in 1864. In 1867 he purchased the New HavenHouse, which with his son he still carries on. They arealso associated together in the management of the rail-road restaurant in the Union station.
