The vessels having been sun-dried, maydien be sent to the kiln, after which the required pattern is traced on them inthe following manner: A perforated paper pattern is placed upon die article,and powdered charcoal sprinkled over it. On removing the paper, the patternremains on the earthenware, and is then brushed over with a solution calledsahree (a paste made from a peculiar kind of clay mixed with water). Whenthis is dry, glaze of the required color is prepared and poured over it, the ardcleis then allowed to dry again, after which it is placed in the glazing
