Preparing a launch at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta Ashton Court Bristol 2007
The Bristol Balloon Fiesta was founded in 1978 with the aim for balloonist from around the world to meet in Bristol to share their interest and to participate in mass hot air balloon ascents. The International Balloon Fiesta, as it is now known, draws crowds of over half a million people where in the August of each year over 100 balloons are launched, some in special shapes, in mass ascents, twice a day over the shows four day period, and the two night glows where balloons are tethered, inflated and glow to the music after dark together with a backdrop firework display.
