Worms, Germany. 24th August 2019. Jens Guth, a local member of the the Landtag (parliament) of Rhineland-Palatinate for the SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany), holds the empty traditional Handnirsch (wooden ladle) at the opening ceremony of the Backfischfest 2019. The largest wine and funfair along the river Rhine, the Backfischfest started in Worms with the traditional handing over of power from the Lord Mayor to the mayor of the fishermen’s lea. The ceremony was framed by dances and music.
