Optical photograph of the constellation of Cassio- peia. The five stars that form the constellation are like a flattened W & are visible above the centre of the picture. The central star in the W is Gamma Cassiopeiae, a variable star. Alpha Cass- iopeiae, or Shedir, is the orange star forming the bottom of the right-hand part of the W. 50mm Hexar, , Fuji R100 film, 15 min expos- ure, 0955-1010 UT, 13 Aug. 1975, El Cariso site.
