A storm has washed away almost all the sand on a beach in co. Mayo, Ireland. Where the sand has been washed away, only black peat now remains.


Here and there stumps emerge, called bog oak, remnants of a forest that must have been here hundreds or thousands of years ago. The shapes of the wood of the whitened tree stumps are works of art in themselves.
