The Sisterhood of St. Francis has taken onitself the care of the sick and injured of thetown. Tlie sisters have borne the burden ofthis Avork of cliarity for twenty-five time to time their hospital has been ex-tended and improved, keeping pace with theneeds of tlie town and the advance of modernmedicine and surgery. Today they aie eqnip-])ed for the care of seventy patients. The sis-terhood in Streator numbers twenty—all ofthem laboring in this humane work, withoutctlier compensation than tlie rewards of relig-ion and the gratitude of the community.
