An English type of approveddesign in whichthe steam issues inan annulus withinan annulus of oiland air at thethroat of a doublecone. Designedfor the most eco-nomical combus-tion of oil. 64 GENERATION OF POWER, 115. FUEL OIL BURNER. An air burner. Brown air issues in an annular converging cone d, meeting the small jets of oil from the cen-tral apertures. Thecentral tube D alsoejects through thesmall holes a, a, a, a,fine jets of heatedoil; all forming thediverging cone e, e,e, e, of atomizedfuel. C is a flaredopening of firebrick. J, a cup forigniting. Air pres-sure, 25 to 30pounds. 116. LIQUID FUEL BURNER. Cup grate type, operated by natural draught of thechimney. The heat of the furnace heats theinner edge of the cups or troughs, vaporizes theoil, which mixes with the air in draught. Theoil is fed to the upper trough and overflows tothe next trough, and so on for as many troughsas required. A sliding cover and air-stopperregulates the fire. See 117 for details. 117. PETROLEUM FIRE GRATE. Nobel type. This grateconsists of a series of superposed troughs, a^ a, a, containing the hquid fuel, the discharge of which is regulatedby small basins, r, r, r, that communicate withthe troughs
