SINGLE FLOWERING ASTERS. 5170 It is well known that single flowers have more brilliant and purer colors than double ones, and it is not surprising that the taste for them has been steadily increasing. The single flowering asters are a valuable addition to the list. They form globular plants and carry on long stout stalks a mass of star-shaped flowers which appear early and continue late into the autumn. The Cosmos is now one of the most popular flowers, but frequently on account of its coming into bloom so late, the plants are destroyed by frost with- out having perfected a solitary flower. This new variety comes into 'full flower in July and continues a mass of bloom until cut down by severe frost.
