The testing machine is locatedin the physical testing room at West Milwaukee, and all thetests are made under the direction of the attendant in charge. Air Hose Testing Machine, It would be very interesting to have the records of some of thetests to reproduce here, but this information is not available. Oneof the interesting features that have been brought out in the testsis the great differences in the temperatures attained by the dif-ferent makes of hose during the tests. The different styles ofhose and the different methods of making it are said to have amarked effect in this particular. Some makes are shown to beflexible and these do not increase much in temperature, whileothers of a hard and stiff character become very hot. There are many questions of great value to be settled by sucha machine and the great importance of obtaining the very bestair-brake hose warrants the trouble of going into it in this main object of the tests is to reproduce the conditions ofservice as nearly as possible in the tests and to wear the hose todestruction within a time that will permit of taking records.
