Saipem Headquarters, Kingston-upon-Thames, Kingston-upon-Thames, United Kingdom. Architect: John Roberston Architects, 2013. Vie
John Robertson Architects have designed and implemented the 8,200 sq m interior design of the new UK headquarters for a turnkey contractor company in the oil & gas industry; Saipem, at 12-42, Wood Street, which comprises two interconnected buildings (previously known as Kings Place and Conquest House) overlooking Kingston rail station in the heart of Kingston-upon-Thames. The brief was to relocate 622 staff that were located in Saipem’s previous UK headquarters in New Malden and another satellite office that had become necessary due to expanding work load. Using the lease break as an opportunity to re-examine how they worked, as well as what their staff needed from their work environment and facilities, they decided to move to a refurbished shell and core building in Kingston. This new home was to reflect the company values and the strong Italian identity of the parent company and many of the staff.
