It is now a quiet and rather large country village,standing among fields, and almost surrounded by fine elms, which hide it from adistance, and make a kind of park of its meadows. How did it come to passthat this place gave birth to a man who has made a mark in the history ofEnglish literature hardly less deep, if less broad, than Shakespeare himself ?
