Here winter sport enthusiasts travel by horse-drawn sleigh along the Flexen Highway in Austria, to reach the famous mountain resort of Lech. This part of the road is protected by an avalanche control tunnel financed by the Marshall Plan which permitted the road to be opened a short time after the heavy avalanches of Winter 1951 had stopped
