Large lots of stock did not sell at all and what did sell went at sacrifice prices. Though there were plenty of orchids, the de- mand was very light. Roses, by the middle of the week, were selling at 50 cents per hundred on the slips. It was hard to get $ per 100 for lilv of the valley and $ for lily blooms. As for gladioli and asters, the condi- tions relating to them were unspeakable as to getting money out of them. We noted a wholesaler offering gladioli for 50 cents per 100 and the buyer refused to pay it. The market is simply over- loaded with these last named stocks and thousands will go into the "dead ; The European war has caused a serious disarrangement in the florists' supply business, and we learn that sev- eral dealers who had taken space for the Boston exhibition will not exhibit. They had ordered large stocks, but do not know where the goods are, and have slight prospect of finding out. NOTES.
