Alien spaceship. Artwork of an alien spaceship colony orbiting a black hole. Surrounding gas and dust are spiralling into the black hole, dragged by immense gravitational forces. This forms an accretion disc. The extreme conditions cause the emission of high-energy jets (top centre). In the far distant future, all stars will have burned out leaving black holes as the only source of energy. The spaceship exists as an artificial planet constructed by an intelligent civilisation able to survive in the hostile conditions near a black hole.
