Light horses, as indicated by the name, are light in weight, weighing from 800 lbs. to 1,200 lbs., or sometimes as much as 1,300 lbs. They are used for driving, riding and racing. These horses are distinguishable by their light bodies, longer, finer legs, and more graceful, easier action than is seen in the draft horses. Several more or less dis- tinct breeds are found in this class. The Thoroughbred was developed in England and is used for running and hunting. The Arabian is a beautiful horse originated in Arabia, and used for riding. The Orloff Trotter originated in Russia and is used for driving and racing.
