An Italian rapier, circa 1600. Double-edged thrusting blade with a diamond shaped cross section. Fullers on both sides, each stamped with the signature, "CLAUDIO FRANZINI". Multi-bar iron knucklebow hilt with quillons bent into a slight "S" shape. Twisted iron wire winding with braided ferrules and a facetted, pointed oval pommel. Length cm.
