. Electric railway journal . ge bat- An account was published in the issue of this paper forFeb. 25 of the Sangamo car watt-hour meter, in which therotating element is floated on mercury. The growing use of car meters will make ashort description of thisfeature of the Sangamocar meter of interest. Byproperly proportioningthe amount of buoyancya very light pressure,or 1/10 oz., is exerted on the jewel bearingthe meters proof against the about 3 gramsat the top, thereby renderintransmission of shock to the moving system or jewel bearing. The variation in the amount of effective pressure upon thejewel between a temperature of no deg. above zero and 10 zero Fahrenheit, due to change of density of the mercury,.
