Sir: The overland relief expedition, together with its provisionsand outfits, was landed about 3 miles from the village of Tununak,near Cape Vancouver, Nelson Island. The beach at that place, at thebase of a range of mountains, was narrow and strewn with a greatnumber of rocks and bowlders, and as the snow was quite deep andsoft it would have been difficult to pack our outfit over this roadto the village.
