Fritillary Imperialis, aka imperial fritillary, painted by Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840), a painter and botanist from Belgium. A flowering plant in the Liliaceae family, it is native to a wide stretch from Kurdistan across the plateau of Turkey, Iraq and Iran to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Northern India and the Himalayan foothills and widely cultivated as an ornamental plant.
