Detail of Thomas Schütte's United Enemies.

Thomas Schütte's 'United Enemies' (shown exhibited outside the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens in 2012) consists of two groups of two large bronze figures roped together. The statues have no obvious torsos or arms and only poles for legs; they are wrapped or tied in cloth like a straight-jacket. Schütte was born in 1954 and lives and works in Düsseldorf.
